Well if it isn't another post about fruit 🥭. Southeast Asia has me in tropical fruit heaven. With new fruit I've never seen. Dragonfruit is a commonplace filler fruit, their pineapples are tiny, these fruits spoiled easily so it doesn't ship well, so we never get to enjoy them.

- rose apple which is light and crisp, like more watery asian pear
- marian plum, which is like tastes like a tiny mango with peach texture
- snake fruit, peels like a lychee, and tastes like a funky pineapple but with the texture of a strawberry kind of? 🍍
- dragonfruit comes in yellow, too (as seen on the first photo)
- guava, this one is green and white, but you'll find giant green and pink ones here
- the ubiquitous mangoes here are so delicious
- other froops not shown that I ate are Maylay Sopadilla and mangosteen.

The whole time we were at Angkor Wat, I thought, "how are we allowed to be here" as we could run through the ruins and climb the stairs.

Built starting in the year 1122, this ancient tomb is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a huge area that was a part of this ancient city.

These ruins are also the Tomb Raider setting as well as Indiana Jones. The faces on the towers at Bayon Temple were crazy to see.

The McDonald's has corn pie and a thankful Ronald the Chinatown neon is bright, they have vending machines of fresh flowers 🌷for $2 - $9, the defragmented Mahanakhon building has a crazy clear observation deck, they have a building in the shape of an elephant, there's Brutalist architecture to be found, and ridiculously translated tshirts to be found (this was my favorite).

Chiang Mai is full of temples (wat). This elephant wat is from 1297 as the first temple of Chiang Mai.

The second wat is Wat Umong, where monks still live. It features this emaciated fasting Buddha statue (where near death, he realized that starvation was not how to get to #enlightenment ), a Buddha head ruins garden, and a series of mediation tunnels.

On the first day, we took a street food walking tour of Michelin mentioned places, and while beyond delicious, I feel like it's a little looser in requirements when they give a mention to this elephant shaped doughnut, but hey, it was served with a pandan sauce and was still good and roughly 86¢. We had bowls of noods aplenty, dumpling delights, Thai grown coffee, and the last bowl blew my mind: Hakka style Yong Tau fou noodles with the pink sauce.

Also, this mango 🥭 sticky rice auntie has been slicing mangos for 50 years.

Plus a classic Hong Kong Diner meal of a pineapple bun with "ice butter" a thick pad of butter that sits atop ice that you sandwich in the bun, and a milk tea in the classic milk tea mug. FYI, there's no pineapple in it, it's called that for what it looks like on the outside.

It's not a farmers market, but rather a wholesale market from fruit grown all over Asia, featuring way overprotected with foam fruit like Japanese pink, white, and giant strawberries and their Shine muscat grapes, as well as tropical fruit from SE Asia that like cashew fruit, mangosteen, and dragon fruit.

I left with a haul of giant cherries, mangosteen, white strawberries, a giant strawberry, and mulberries. 🍇🍉🥭🍍

Since I don't want to carry around a selfie stick (can you imagine?) it does look like I'm posting images of Joel on vacation. So I threw one he took of me with the skyline. Where every night at 8pm, they have a music and light show.

We also visited the Monster housing, Yick Cheong Building, so dense. And the Sha Tin Racecourse, where their concessions still had hot dogs, but also roasted duck and curried fish balls and noodles.

These are photos I took the day after the first night of the Palisades and Eaton fires from my front yard.

I'm using this to document how it's been going. @joelchappo and I live in the middle of the city, so we didn't have to evacuate, but the Hollywood hills are but 5 miles away.
We're fortunate, which I cannot speak for the thousands of people (including friends and acquaintances) that have lost everything.

I have thought about how I wanted show up on social media:
- Be upset on how we have done very little about climate change (and being the only country where half the citizens don't want to believe it)?
- Be annoyed at people that don't live here making unhelpful, callous comments? Like would they say this if it were a hurricane or a tornado?
- Be sad for the businesses that are no longer?
- Think back at the houses I've been to that are rubble?
- Point out how Americans react to a place they love or (misguidedly) hate?
- dote on the city I truly love?

No. Bloviating on my thoughts isn't helpful. I want to be helpful and do what a I can when I felt so helpless watching it all infold.
- Give resources and also put my money where my mouth is.
- Donate to real people that I know it will effect.
- Take in displaced doggies.
- Thank the first responders and the journalists on the ground. (I was an emergency reporter at @siriusxm during Katrina. Much respect.)

I'm using this to document how it's been going. @joelchappo and I live in the middle of the city, so we didn't have to evacuate, but the Hollywood hills are but 5 miles away.
